Hamble CC v SUCC 5th XI on Sun 01 Jun 2014 at 14:00
SUCC Won by 1 Wicket

Match report The day began with #coupleoftheyear nominees Mills and Gill arriving at the concourse in a poor state after drinking Ceno bar out of Peronis, in the most incredibly expensive pre drinks for Jesters. Moves were of course lifted with the arrival of Marky Mark and Northerners classic chat. JT had finally been found after countless weeks and Kightly was back from rehab.
The arrival at Hamble bought about an air of excitement for the 5s. This however was short lived, with the showers receiving a straight ‘Oh Dear’ (Gill, 2014). Obviously, this meant that shower time was out of the question for a very upset tour veteran Northerner. The lack of warm up included Marky Mark leading the how to bowl chat, requesting to ‘Bowl me at the death, I am the new Malinga’ (Mitchell, 2014). Gill lost the toss and was put into the field, with Mitchell and JT leading the attack. Smart bowling from JT was keeping the openers at bay. Mitchell was taken and was replaced by Gill, keeping the run rate down and remarkably bowling well outdoors. Rahul was introduced and provided the magic on a decent track, picking up 4 more wickets to an already cracking season for the spinner. Kumo picked up 3 wickets from some good bowling, along with Marky with a couple.
Holcombe was introduced in the last few overs and faced a 9 year old, for which he bowled first ball. Feeling absolutely disgusted with himself, we allowed the young man to continue batting, for then Marky Mark to selfishly catch him out as he was ‘desperate for some fantasy points’ (Mitchell, 2014). Other highlights included Mrs Gills 3 sharp catches; in what was a very good fielding performance by 5s, especially from the cripple Kightly and Greg Greg Wise. However, Siegy ‘Communist Worker in my baggy’ Wai may have lost his status as an ‘International Superstar’ with a debatable fielding keeping performance that included 2 shoes.
And so after a very decent but ‘could have been an 8.5/10 if it included crisps’ tea, Clough and Kightly were sent out to chase 146. After a slow but steady start, Kightly was bowled by the Hamble captain, introducing Wai, who once again failed with the bat and handed the ‘International Superstar’ status to Rahul. This bought in the solid Greg Greg Wise, who received a 9 ball duck. Mills was bought into the attack and started very well, spanking the Hamble all over the park, including 8 4s and 1 #manzilmaximums. Clough’s reign had ended at the crease after being bowled by a jaffa, which was followed by Holcombe, who looked good, but was caught for 9. With the score at 58-5, a special captain’s innings and partnership with his wife was required by Gill. Once again, it was 6s boundaries galore for Gill, hitting 3 #manzilsmaximums and now leads the league table going into the final few weeks. The loss of Mills (50) followed by Gill (46) put in the tail of Marky Mark and JT to support Rahul, who scored the winning runs with a 4.
After a great win, the 5s descended on Gordons and were joined by Royals and GAYBATEMAN, wearing a very, very sexy shirt. Discussions of Royals antics on the Jesters dance floor and GAYBATEMAN’s sexual experiences took place. JT was effing and bliding. Scenes.
