Middleton v SUCC 1st XI on Mon 21 Apr 2014 at 13:00
SUCC Won by 6 wickets

Match report After an agreed toss where the middleton captain insisted they bat first because they had "a very strong batting line up, but not much bowling" SUCC took the field in mildly sunny conditions.
Warner opened from one end with his gribbly mediums, finding dip turn and bounce that any spinner would have been envious of. Nikul opened from the other hitting his stride nicely pretending he was still steaming in on the beach in salou. Early pressure from these 2 and Rodda left Middleton 63-3 after 17. This was where the game swung with the introduction of our very own panda bear Premal. With the other half of Fredmal, Wilson bowling his leggies at the other end prem tore through the middleton middle order taking 5-11. This allowed for beautifully attacking fields which involved Patterson practically standing in the ring with a lid on. With numbers 9 and 10 at the crease captain backhouse decided that the time was right to burgle a couple of wickets picking up the last 2 without score.
Having bowled them out quickly we went straight in to bat with where king fell early. Baker, sent in for the pinch hitting role raced along to 8 off 12 overs with willway doing his best to look out of touch against his home club.
Rain came, and with it tea. This was a disappointing affair because not only was the good selection of cakes not met by a similar quality of sandwiches but we also found out comprehensively that willway's sister would not be attending. The one bright side however was Rob's own dad referring to him as Willway.
Following the rain break Baker picked up the scoring rate before being caught for 25 and willway after finally smoking a cover drive was out the next ball trying to do the same. The mini collapse which also included Wilson for 1 was steadied as Patto made his bid to go joint top of the manzils maximums league before seeing us home.

A good win with memories of solent brushed nicely under the carpet.
